From the tip to the barrel, the slow, careful crafting of the shaving brush “Ercole” is entrusted to the hands of expert wood carvers who skilfully bring the personality and character of each piece to life, turning it into a miniature masterpiece.
THE TIP
The process begins with the hand-picking of the finest animal hair which is divided into bundles of same length, then tied and cut inside a form that defines the curved shape of the brush, which is then fastened inside the barrel. Flexible, soft and hardwearing, and made of superior silver badger bristles, the tip guarantees the long life of the brush. Soft, natural and skin-friendly, the tip will generate a thick, smooth lather and massage the skin gently but beneficially to prepare it for a perfect shave. Its warm, neutral tones are intensified in softly seductive, deep shades that fade away into the ivory before culminating in a sophisticated silver-tipped brush head.
THE HANDLE
Superior Santos Rosewood is chosen for the barrel. Brown in color, streaked with a blackish grain and enriched with flickers of gold, it is a luxurious wood of excellent fibre. After patient shaping on the turning tool, the wood is polished and hand-treated with natural wax to ensure that its naturally vibrant colors remain intact over time. The outstanding result is a highly attractive, functional object: a satisfaction and gratification created in the workshop, long before bringing pleasure to the skin and the senses.
Tradition strictly dictates shaving with shaving soap, brush, and razor. The best time to shave is in the morning when facial muscles are rested, hydrated and relaxed. Start the ritual by placing a wet cotton cloth on the face to enhance the cream's emollient properties. Apply soap with a wet brush and circular motions to produce a rich lather and massage the skin. After washing the razor blade with hot water, shaving can begin: with the grain, against the grain, rinse the face with fresh water to help close the pores and alleviate any irritation. Applying an after-shave to keep the skin cool and hydrated completes the ritual. To ensure the long life of the brush it must be carefully washed, shaken and dried.
